GARDENING PROJECT
At the beginning of this school year we started a Gardening project. The project leaders are Mrs. Eva-Maria Hartmann and Mrs. Swantje Koehler. The children work enthusiastically for this project. They established vegetable patches, sowed the plants and watered them regularly. As this year has been very dry, only the harvest of one kind of vegetable was good: Mchicha. This plant is used to droughts. Our students enjoyed eating the vegetables they had grown themselves.
Last week they put banana plants in the ground to make them grow. All are looking forward to the banana harvest. Concerning watering they have to follow strict rules: Banana plants must be watered only once a week, but they then get six buckets of water.
